Types and Common Failures of Active Electromagnetic Buzzers

Time:2026-04-24 14:42:44 | Traffic:0

The common malfunctions of the buzzer during use usually include the following types:

1 type: It doesn't make any sound before installation. This indicates that the quality of the buzzer itself is poor (this situation is more likely to occur with the first type of buzzer)

Two types: If there is no sound or intermittent sound after welding, this situation may be caused by using an excessive power of the soldering iron during the welding process (it is recommended to use a soldering iron with a power of 20-30W) or by taking too long (it is recommended to complete one soldering point within 3 seconds), resulting in the soldering points between the pin of the buzzer and the coil being melted and thus causing a false soldering.

3 cases: During the buzzing process of the buzzer after welding, there is a slight noise, no sound, or a distorted tone. This situation may be caused by an excessively small or large current when starting the buzzer (the normal operating current of the buzzer is 20-30mA), resulting in the buzzer not being able to buzz normally.

Four types: After the buzzer has been used for a period of time, it may start to produce abnormal sounds or become silent. This situation could be due to the continuous buzzing time of the buzzer being too long (the continuous buzzing time of the buzzer should not exceed 8-10 hours; otherwise, it will change its sound or be damaged), or it could be affected by the environment. Five types are: After the buzzer is soldered and used on the wire board, it may change its tone or become silent. However, when tested with a DC regulated power supply after being removed, there is no problem. This situation could be caused by interference to the buzzer.

The above five situations are the most common faults that occur during the use of the buzzer. Other fault scenarios will not be described here.

When choosing a buzzer, one should not merely focus on the price while ignoring the characteristics of one's own circuit. Instead, one should select the buzzer based on the design characteristics of the electronic product's circuit. This way, the undesirable phenomena mentioned above can be effectively avoided. If the design of the electronic product's circuit has strict requirements for the current loss of electronic components, when the startup current of the buzzer is lower than 10mA, one can seek out the buzzer manufacturer to match a buzzer with low current loss.
